Natural Gas Market Updates

March 4, 2026 – Market Update

NYMEX gas futures sold off this morning, offsetting most of the gains seen over the past couple days. Looking ahead, a period of relatively warm temperatures across the US Northeast, Midwest, and eastern Canada is on the way next week, and demand is expected to drop, hopefully giving utilities the chance to boost injections into storage. After which, as seen in NOAA’s 8-14 Day Outlook, a wave of cold may stretch back down over the region.

Note that the Emerson-Eastbound Force Majeure which has been in place for the GLGT pipeline has been extended from late March to early May, despite nominations having somewhat recovered recently. Know that a lasting constraint on eastbound flows during April could introduce some volatility in cash prices if the Dawn market is under-supplied.
