Natural Gas Market Updates

March 16, 2026 – Market Update

It was a quiet and uneventful day across energy markets. NYMEX slipped $0.10 USD/MMBtu on the day. Dawn also eased, down $0.06 CAD/GJ, as Ontario imports dropped sharply and PNW exports weakened further. LNG Canada rose 666 MMcf/d to 1.95 Bcf/d, while Canadian production moved the other way, falling 1.29 Bcf/d to 20.2 Bcf/d. That said, a colder late-March outlook for Ontario and the Northeast could still tighten Dawn balances and push the hub back into net withdrawals. WTI finished down $4.08 USD/bbl, giving back a bit of its recent strength. (JM)
