Natural Gas Market Updates

April 22, 2026 – Market Update

WTI rose $3.13 to $92.80 USD/bbl today, while the 12-month NYMEX strip was up $0.02 USD/MMBtu and the 12-month Dawn strip was up $0.02 CAD/GJ. The oil move came despite news that the U.S. had indefinitely extended the ceasefire with Iran, as the market remained focused on how uncertain that truce still looks. Reports of ship seizures and gunfire involving commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, along with supportive U.S. fuel inventory draws, kept some risk premium in crude. Gas was much quieter by comparison, and Ontario fundamentals still looked fairly soft, with stronger St. Clair inflows and limited Dawn storage activity suggesting the local market remains comfortably supplied.
