Natural Gas Market Updates

April 20, 2026 – Market Update

Today was a rather slow and uneventful day for energy markets. NYMEX is up $0.01/MMBtu, Dawn is up $0.01/GJ, and WTI is up $3.46/bbl to $87.31. Crude is getting some support from renewed concerns around the Strait of Hormuz, where shipping disruption has returned after a brief reopening on Friday. On the long-term Canadian side Ottawa is targeting first LNG shipments out of Churchill, Manitoba by 2030, though it still looks very early given the project would require major pipeline, liquefaction, and shipping infrastructure that does not yet exist.
