Natural Gas Market Updates

March 31, 2026 – Market Update

It’s been a mix of sunshine and rain today in Toronto. Energy markets were weaker on the day, with the 12-month NYMEX strip down $0.09 USD/MMBtu, the 12-month Dawn strip down $0.10 CAD/GJ, and WTI falling $0.78 USD/bbl to $102.10. It was otherwise a relatively quiet day in Ontario, as net Ontario imports eased modestly and Dawn balances continued to loosen with the shoulder season transition still underway, reflected in a weaker cash market at Dawn. A warmer forecast kept the near-term tone soft, while the NEXUS Colerain outage beginning tomorrow remains an important item to watch, with the event expected to cut capacity by 976 MMcf/d. (JM)
