Natural Gas Market Updates

March 3, 2026 – Market Update

Enbridge recently updated their biweekly storage report for Dawn and Tecumseh. As of March 1st, the two storage pools totaled 84 PJs (or 76.3 Bcf), marking a net change of -9 PJs (or 8.2 Bcf) since mid-February, now about 26% full. Notably, this is 6.3% more inventory than this time last year, but -23.5% less than the 5-year average. (Keep in mind though that the 2023 and 2024 winters were remarkably warm.) This -9 PJs withdrawal is the smallest since withdrawals first started as of Nov 15, 2024, suggesting that unless late March temperatures fall considerably below normal, it’s likely that the we’ve already seen the largest withdrawals this season. Regional demand is expected to tank in the short term with a warm shot arriving in early-to-mid March , for instance bringing 10+ degrees Celsius highs to the GTA next week.
