The NYMEX front month started the week off strong, rallying $0.10 USD/MMBtu or 3.4% to return over the $3.00 USD/MMBtu price threshold and settle at $3.04 USD/MMBtu. Today’s movement largely erased the front month decline experienced last week.
In the US, weather forecasts indicate that the reminder of September will be warmer than normal, helping to boost power demand. Lower 48 production dropped slightly over the weekend, further supporting prices.
In Alberta, AECO gas prices neared free as production remained high, but LNG Canada flows dropped off. (PB)
