Welcome to a new week, the last week of trading the February contract.
It’s been a quiet day for the NYMEX with it being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a Federal Holiday for the States. The February front month contract opened at $3.81 USD/mm, and only drifted up 2 cents. It seems everyone had their eyes on Trump’s inauguration instead. If any big news comes out about energy tariffs, I imagine it would take a few days before the reactions settle and everyone understands what it would really mean for the industry.
Many Americans are experiencing or bracing for significant winter storms in the next couple days, even in the South. Looking further ahead, late January into early February is expected to warm up to near normal, and even above normal for a large portion of the USA. Finally a break from all the dark blue! Stay safe and warm until then.
