Welcome back from a long weekend. I don’t know about you, but I was cold all weekend and I had to shovel a lot of snow.
The pundits are talking all about the cold weather and freeze-offs (when the well head freezes and halts production), and this cold weather will remain for another week. The NYMEX March front month contract was up 28 cents to $4.00 US/mm.
However, after this week we are expected to have some reasonably ‘normal’ weather. Looking at the forecasts, we might even see some warmer than normal weather from next week into March. But with this warmer outlook, I was surprised by the rally today. I am always cautious to read too much into market action on the day before or after a long weekend. Let’s keep a close eye on this.
I can only hope that all that RED in the forecast means that a particular team will win the Four Nations Hockey tournament on Thursday.
