Natural Gas Market Updates

April 28, 2026 – Market Update

Natural gas was slightly weaker today, with the average 12-month NYMEX strip down about $0.02 USD/MMBtu and the 12-month Dawn average down about $0.03 CAD/GJ. WTI went up $3.71 to ~$100 USD/bbl range as crude markets remain stressed with the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

For Ontario, the main change was that yesterday’s stronger St. Clair support faded. Imports into the province pulled back, leaving less cushion ahead of the short cold spell expected around May 1–2. NEXUS maintenance is also still limiting some flows, so Ontario could stay a bit tighter until the cold passes and constraints begin to clear. (JM)
