What is the difference between RiteRate and Energir?
While Energir is a regulated utility, RiteRate is a gas marketer serving the needs of customers across Canada. Wanting to give you as much flexibility and control as possible, we bulk purchase gas from sources across Canada and pass those efficiencies onto you. We have a variety of plans available designed to fit the needs of business.
What are the eligibility criteria for a fixed rate supply service?
- The establishment/business annual consumption of natural gas that is higher than 7,500 m3 but less than 1,168,000 m3.
- If you are on the variable price supply service with Energir, you must have been a customer for at least 12 months.
Where will my gas bill come from?
Your gas bill will continue to come from your current gas utility, Energir. Your customer charge, delivery change and transportation costs won’t change. On that same bill you will see a line for supply that reads Canadian RiteRate Energy with the rate we have guaranteed on your plan. You pay your utility as you have in the past and your utility will pay us for your natural gas.
If I have already signed, can I change my mind?
Yes. Under the conditions of the fixed rate supply service, Énergir will send you a confirmation sheet, which you must sign to confirm your enrollment to the fixed price natural gas service, as well as the duration and price terms of the agreement. From the moment this confirmation sheet is mailed to you, you have 15 days to return it to Energir. If you do not complete and return the written confirmation within the prescribed timeframe, the agreement will be cancelled at no charge.
What happens at the end of the fixed price agreement?
RiteRate will contact you with an offer about 120 days prior to the end of the current agreement. To enroll again into the fixed price supply service, you must undertake the same steps as the first time and transmit the document at least 60 days (and no more than 120 days) before the end of your current agreement. You must sign a “confirmation sheet” within 15 days to confirm your new enrollment to the fixed price natural gas service.
